Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a federally funded research and development center and NASA field center. Primary function is the construction and operation of robotic planetary spacecraft, though it also conducts earth-orbit and astronomy missions. It is also responsible for operating NASA's Deep Space Network.

 

Chief of Application Architecture (10/2014 – Current)

Strategic planning and management of system and product road maps in line with strategy driving modularization, re-usability, design for quality and serviceability. Partnering with executive, key business, manufacturing and product development leadership for setting strategic direction; integrates business requirements and portfolios in solution road map that drives architecture, functionality, integration and quality for the product portfolio.

●     Manage multi-million dollar budgets on multiple programs to help critical laboratory needs. Leverage research from Gartner and internal analysis for market trends and insights. Develop strategy and lead programs to help improve efficiencies.

●     Oversee over 150 IT professionals to ensure architectural and IT strategic alignment with business objectives. Key decision maker on when to use in-house development versus software as a service solutions (SaaS) in order to meet customer, architectural and cost requirements.

●     Spearheaded major search program across all of JPL to improve internal search. Improved search results by 75% and drove the implementation of machine learning technologies such as out neural network to allow search to perform adaptive learning based on user inputs.  Led to JPL winning AGENDA16, and helped place JPL third on the Information Week’s Elite 100 for 2015.

●     Leading organizational shift from traditional monolithic development and operations support to a new cloud native micro service “dev-ops” model of development and operations. Introduced and pushed for technologies such as AWS, Azure and Kubernetes into our organization. Enable automation of infrastructure, and continuous integration / continous deployment of applications.

Established in 1993, Mission Critical Technologies, Inc. (MCT) is a technical and administrative services company. MCT contracts employees out to JPL for employment.

●     Led a cross functional team in developing a lab-wide hosting and collaboration platform that helped to centralize digital data, remove network share drives, and centralize personal profiles. 

●     Collaboration system won multiple awards and is still in used today.
